State of Despair

It’s almost a month I haven’t posted here. Not only because of lowered internet speed in Iran, but mainly because of the fact that every subject I think of, seems to be unimportant comparing with what is going on around us. When you hear of sexual torture of prisoners caught during post-election protests, or you see ongoing TV shows of imprisoned and broken reform leaders, confessing to surreal plots,…then you simply lose your interest in writing about ordinary things. “State of Despair”, could be the keyword to how it feels these days, while normal life goes on....

This pictures are not showing a small protest rally; nor a gathering of family members of prisoners in front of a court or detention center. Even not the striking labor demanding their unpaid salaries…
This crowd
in front of a Hotel in Tehran, is only waiting for the appearance of south Korean TV star Song Il Gook, playing the main character of the popular historic TV series “Jumong”.

What a timing to invite such a star to Iran! Could it be an attempt to repair the damaged image of state television in Iran?

Personally I was not interested enough to wait for appearance of Jumong’s leading actor and left without a photo of him. I normally watch the TV series of newly launched Persian satellite TV “Farsi 1”, with a variety of series from rusty “Bold & Beautiful” to south Korean series called “Couple or Trouble”; a tender and funny romantic comedy...

By the way the story of Jumong is also interesting, thanks to it’s intrigues and emotional tension. Maybe the Iranians see in this story parallels with the current situation. Jumong is more like a hero who defeats evil intrigues and enemies and becomes the emperor of unity....
